Please note the online Parentpay system will not be availble until the 28th November 2011. A link will be provided here to the Parentpay system on the day.
Cashless System
We are changing to a cashless payment system for all meals and snacks purchased in school. Students will each have a personal account from which payments are taken using a biometric based computer system whenever food is purchased. A student will authorise payment by placing their finger on a scanner at the point of sale; a display then shows the student’s name, class and their current cash balance held by the system. The selected food items will be entered into the system from an itemised keyboard while the amount spent and the new cash balance will show on a display so the student knows exactly how much they have spent and how much money they have left.

Summer Price List 2011
"Eden Food Service has worked to develop an enhanced menu offer. The enhanced menu has a much higher proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables and is prepared on site, from scratch, every day. As a result, Eden Food Service felt they were in a good position to manage the new Government food standards, which were introduced in 2006.
Eden Food Service catering teams take great pride in their recipes and meal presentation, and take genuine care when encouraging children to try something new. The catering teams are proud of the meals they are serving because they are all nutritionally balanced, tasty and fresh.
The daily menus offer a choice from each food group to form a well-balanced meal on the plate. Each meal includes a protein main course (such as bolognaise), a carbohydrate option (such as spaghetti), vegetables or salad, a portion of bread and a dessert (such as apple crumble and custard or fresh fruit). They have found the most popular dishes are those which include pasta in the dish, such as spaghetti bolognaise or creamy tuna pasta bake.
Eden Food Service employ a Registered Nutritionist who analyses all of the menus, and ensures that the meals they provide are packed full of essential nutrients.
The development team at Eden Food Service work closely with the Nutritionist, who gives them ideas on ingredients to incorporate into dishes, such as oats, pulses and fortified cereals.
Eden Food Service hold regular ‘Focus on Food’ pupil groups, in which pupils are asked for their views on the types of foods they would like to see on the menus.
All new parents are provided with a starter pack, which informs them about the school meal service offered, policies, and Eden’s approach to providing healthy and nutritious meals. Menus are given to students to take home to their parents, to encourage discussion and involvement in meal choices. A termly newsletter, ‘Food Matters’, is distributed to all parents of primary school children. The newsletters have information on forthcoming promotions, as well as food related features on topics such as childhood obesity and new nutritional guidelines.
Students are involved in theme days, promotions and the successful ‘Try Something New’ scheme. The ‘Try Something New’ scheme aims to encourage students to try a variety of fruit and vegetables, which they might normally avoid!
Think 5-a-day and try to incorporate fruit and vegetables into as many meals and snacks as possible. In our experience, the best way to include more fruit and vegetables for children who are not keen on them is to puree them and add them to dishes.
