There are several areas that will be of particular interest to former students. For example:-
- If you go to the ‘And finally ‘ section at the top right you will find a fascinating history of the 50 years of Ryburn written by Tony Heptinstall former Head of History at Ryburn.
- Click on the banner underneath ‘Ryburn is 50 years old’ and you will see a photographic record of some of the changes that have taken place.
- Finally, if you could take 5 minutes to register with our ‘Former Students Network’ we will keep you in touch with life at Ryburn.
There have been over two hundred former students contact us through this new website. The first three newsletters have now been sent out to them by email.
These have included details of the school events in the year to which Former Students will be invited. If you would like a copy of the newsletter please contact me at m.robinson@rvhs.co.uk or complete the application form on this site.

Elsewhere on the main website you can read about the history of Ryburn (look on the section ‘AND FINALLY…). We know that amongst the thousands of students who have been to Ryburn there is a great deal of goodwill for the school.
We would like to increase still further the opportunities for former students to keep in touch with the school and each other. Every former student who registers with us will receive a newsletter three times a year giving you news of what is happening at the school and news of other former students. You will also be informed of events at school which you are invited to attend. We also would like to encourage reunions of groups of former students remembering how successful the ‘Last Dance’ was before the closing of the old buildings. For any former students who still hasn't seen round the new buildings we hope you will take one of the opportunites to see the ever improving new facilities.
But as a school we also would like to benefit from closer links. We know that out there are former students who can be excellent role models for our present students. We always would be grateful to hear from any of you willing to give advice to Ryburn students. If someone is considering the Fire Service for a future career it would be really good if they could talk to or email an actual fireman and similarly with other jobs. Perhaps you took a ‘gap year’ before or after University and could give advice to one of our students considering doing the same or give them advice. The really adventurous amongst you might like to join other former students who have come into school to talk to groups of students about their career, traveling etc; etc;
If you would be willing to be featured in our 'Where are they now?' slot on this site or in the school magazine please indicate on the form. There are many of these profiles already on the site from a wide range of year groups. We really would like to receive as many as possible.
It may be that we will get asked by other former students for your contact details so they can get in touch with you. We will not release your email address or any other details without contacting you and asking your permission.
