March is finally here, and we can start to enjoy brighter evenings and the start of Spring. It’s also the month of mock exams, Year 9 Options, our epic Dance and Gym show and preparing for work experience. Let’s see what our students have been up to so far this year.,,

That’s the first half-term of the new academic year done! We hope everyone has settled into the new academic year. We’ve so much to celebrate already. Read on to find out about all the amazing things taking place in our school.

We’ve come to the end of another academic year. What a lovely last term it’s been, with lots to reminisce about. Memories and friends were made at our annual Year 7 Camp. Our Acting Academy’s hard work and effort paid off and they put on a wonderful performance of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ at the Viaduct Theatre in Halifax. We’ve welcomed our soon-to-be Year 7 students and their families into the school for Transition Evening and given them a taste of Ryburn life with Transition Day. And we can’t forget our amazing Academy Awards!

Looking back on this half-term, there is a lot for Ryburn to be proud of. There’s been our Pride Week, where we celebrate identity, diversity and uniqueness. We are proud to be recognised as one of the top schools nationally for Character Education. Most of all, we are proud of our students for all of the hard work and effort they put into everything they do, what they achieve and their resilience to keep going.

We’ve reached the end of another term, and as we head into the Easter break, we want to give you a rundown of all the excitement over the past few weeks. Staff faced trials and tribulations during Ryburn Roulette, but the students enjoyed themselves and we raised lots of money for Comic relief. Our Careers Fair grew bigger this year and we were able to open it up to other year groups. And we were finally able to hold our Dance and Gym show in person again. Last month, our Careers Day took place for students to explore their post-16 options alternative to sixth form. Every year we like to hold a Careers Fair for students to visit and speak to employers, and this year’s event was bigger and better than ever!

We’re through the first half-term of 2023 and we already have so much to celebrate. If you haven’t noticed yet, our school is used as a main location in the latest series of Happy Valley and our students had the opportunity to feature as extras. We’ve seen student leaders across the Trust come together and collaborate on ideas. Our Year 7 Girls Football Team are kicking up a storm. Keep reading for all the latest goings on at Ryburn.

That’s the first term done! It’s been another event-filled half-term with open evenings, karaoke sing-a-longs and we hosted our Community Lunch for the first time in three years. We’ve finished our first half-term and what a welcome back it has been. We’ve hit the ground running with activity days, our Ryburn Sixth students certainly know how to put the FUN into fundraising, and we held our wonderful open evening for Year 6 students and their parents.
