The group were an engaging group of young people and it was a pleasure to discuss career routes with them. We covered areas relevant to many career paths, higher education (degree v apprenticeship v other), subject choice, keeping doors open if you haven’t yet decided, career satisfaction, long term health and well-being throughout a career.

Careers week is a fabulous concept for giving young people access to first-hand career information. By hosting it in the classroom it created an environment in which the students were safe to ask any question, very useful for those who cannot attend external career events or find these intimidating. I hope that throughout the week the group were able to meet people from other career areas and gather the information they need to help choose their individual path.

We really enjoyed visiting Ryburn. The students were well behaved, engaging, curious, honest and asked plenty of relevant questions. I think it’s an excellent idea for young adults to be able to see what careers involve from the people who do the job. It’s so hard to know what to do and where to channel your energy at school to be able to get the best outcomes for the future.

Lizi Greenwood testimonial

Ryburn’s approach to introducing students to professionals in a wide variety of industries is inspirational. I feel privileged to have been invited to share my passion for my work and share industry insights to broaden the scope of what is possible. As an alumni of RVHS it was my pleasure to support the school I have fond memories of and would happily do it again.
