Key dates

  • Monday 5 July is our Virtual Welcome Evening

Bubble restrictions mean we can’t hold this event in person, but don’t worry, we’ll be making sure you get the information you require and get to know all our familiar faces via a dedicated website page. Website content will go live on the afternoon of 5 July, and remain online for you to check whenever you need to.

  • Tuesday 7 September is Transition Day

The first day of term in September is going to be your Transition Day. Only our new Year 7 and 12 students will be in school, and the whole day will be dedicated to settling in, getting to know your form mates and making great memories of the start of your time at Ryburn.

Students in Years 8-11 and 13 return to school on Wednesday 8 September.

Summer iGEN reading book

We have a new summer reading book this year - ‘The Boy who made Everyone Laugh’ by Helen Rutter. Every student will receive a loan copy with their welcome pack before the summer holidays. (You don’t need to buy a copy).

It’s a really funny read, but it also has some important messages about endeavouring to follow your dreams, about kindness and understanding the different challenges others may face.

The whole year group read the same book over the summer holidays, a shared experience which you can share and explore with your form. It’s your first taste of our iGen curriculum which uses shared reading and discussion of key novels to explore all kinds of issues and themes from year 7 to 11. We hope you enjoy it!

See you soon!
