Behind the Music
This collaborative project brought together over 40 students from a wide range of extra-curricular groups - choirs, bands, LGBTQ+ committees, poetry clubs, and self-empowerment groups for girls. Together, they explored the life and legacy of Anne Lister: a pioneering local figure and feminist icon.
The project kicked off with sessions introducing Anne Lister’s story and the purpose behind the song. Students then joined writing, vocal, or instrumental groups, contributing their unique talents to the creation of Lister’s Legacy, a powerful anthem they wrote and recorded together.
In honour of Anne Lister’s commitment to education and personal growth, the students chose to support Malala Fund, raising money to help girls around the world access education.
