English Language and English Literature test students’ abilities to: understand and produce fiction and non-fiction text; write creatively; read and write about a wide range of poetry, prose and drama, including Shakespeare, and produce a variety of Speaking and Listening work.

The future
Both English Language and/or English Literature can be taken at A-level, which could lead to courses in Further and Higher Education. Occupations such as: teaching, journalism and creative media may be possible career choices. Passing English GCSE is a common requirement for many jobs and courses.
